Are electronic gear shifters worth the money
“Exactly,' McCarthy says. “It's great if you have injuries, injured hands, anything that can make it hard to ride a bike, electronic shifting can help. It works the same if you have cold hands or big gloves too. If you don't need dexterity because it's so easy.”
How much does it cost to switch to Di2
An Ultegra Di2 front derailleur will set you back about $560, while Dura-Ace Di2 is about $780. Ultegra Di2 shifters are $445; Dura-Ace Di2 are nearly double that at $930.
Do you really need electronic shifting

Do pros use Di2
The shifters you'll see far more than any others in the Tour de France are Dura-Ace Di2 simply because Shimano sponsors and supports more teams than any other brand. This is Romain Bardet's bike with the handlebar turned so far forward that the drops point slightly upward.
Is Shimano Di2 reliable
The result is smooth, reliable shifting under any load even in the worst grime or muddy conditions and, as GCN highlight, even submerged under water. In another test —one that probably no sane rider will ever subject their bike to— GCN even buried their Di2 equipped bike.
Do all pros use Di2
All the pros – or almost all of them – now use electronic groupsets on their bikes. They are simply […] All the pros – or almost all of them – now use electronic groupsets on their bikes.
Is Di2 worth the extra money
If you have the money and you ride a lot, yes. It is so worth it. I'm big fan of Di2, but it's a luxury. You probably won't enjoy the ride anymore than mechanical, unless you enjoy useful gadgets and tech for their own sake.
How long do electronic shifters last
SRAM, the newest entrant, says its batteries last at least 15 hours—and up to 60—on a full charge. LED indicators warn of low power, but even when it turns red to indicate a depleted battery, Menna says, you'll have at least five hours of ride time before it goes dead.
How much does it cost to upgrade to electronic shifting
It should come as no surprise that advanced electronic groups are more expensive than their mechanical equivalents. Looking strictly at retail prices (which vary), you can expect to spend in the range of $400-1,000 more for an electronic group on its own.
Can I convert my bike to Di2
Yes, it really is that simple. There are some caveats, of course – but if you want to spend the least amount of money and still upgrade your Di2 bike to 11 speed then that's all. Just buy two 11 speed derailleurs and you're done.
